- 2 medium green plantains (about 400g)
- 1 tsp salt (divided)
- 2 tbsp olive oil or avocado oil
- 1 cup water
Instructions
- Peel the plantains by cutting off the ends and slicing down the skin lengthwise.
- Cut the peeled plantains into 1-inch thick slices and soak in water with ½ tsp salt for 10 minutes.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray the basket with cooking oil.
- Air fry the soaked plantain slices in a single layer for 8-10 minutes until slightly golden.
- Remove and gently mash each slice to about half an inch thick, sprinkling remaining salt over them while warm.
- Return mashed plantains to the air fryer in a single layer and cook for another 5-7 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
