  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 4 large russet potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain excess fat.
  3. Add diced onions to the skillet and sauté until soft. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in a greased baking dish. Top with half of the beef mixture and half of the cheese. Repeat layers.
  5. Pour milk evenly over the top layer. Cover with foil and bake for about 45 minutes until potatoes are tender.
  6. Remove foil for the last 15 minutes to allow cheese to brown. Let cool slightly before serving.
